Sanctum Studio is a dynamic new arts space in the North Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It’s a factory in a castle…yes, a castle, with turrets and towers covered in vines. In 2021/22 we will host an exciting program of exhibitions, book launches and events. Visit our What’s On page for more information or our online shop to purchase original artwork.
Sanctum Studio Artists Space is home to a small group of resident artists, including painters, photographers and jewellers.
It is also the headquarters of Sanctum Studio Productions, a lens through which monstrous apparitions are made manifest, tearing fissures in the fabric of monotony. Its work has been described as, ‘forg[ing] a dark and surreal dystopia, packed with visual surprises,’ (The Age 2018).
Sanctum Studio is managed by husband-and-wife team, Lachlan Plain (lachlanplain.com) and Jasmine Powell (silentrevolution.net.au). Their art is inspired by their experience of madness, bringing knowledge from the shadows into the light of day.
Sanctum Studio creates public art, street art, giant puppets and special props for government, commercial and private clients. We also facilitate collaborative arts projects alongside community groups and schools, creating public art, sculptural lanterns, giant puppets and picture story books.
