Sanctum Studio is a dynamic new arts space in the North Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It’s a factory in a castle…yes, a castle, with turrets and towers covered in vines.
Sanctum Studio creates public art, street art, giant puppets and special props for government, commercial and private clients. We also facilitate collaborative arts projects alongside community groups and schools, creating public art, sculptural lanterns, giant puppets and picture story books.
Sanctum Studio is home to a small group of resident artists, including painters, photographers and jewellers. It is also the headquarters of Sanctum Theatre, a visual performance company presenting live art in every day spaces since 2006.
The studio is available for short-term and long-term leases to artists and creative people. See below for information on renting Sanctum Studio.
Situated near the charming town of Montmorency and the iconic Montsalvat Arts Colony in Eltham, the studio backs onto the Plenty River parklands.
Sanctum Studio has 110m2 footprint with a 4m high ceiling and road frontage (35,000 cars drive past per day).
Sanctum Studio is ideal for individual artists and collectives. It can be hired as a fully equipped artist’s workshop, or for photo and film shoots, exhibitions, performances, rehearsals, classes and events. Artists looking for a long-term shared studio space are also encouraged to apply.
Sanctum Studio features a large floor space with workbenches, industrial sewing machine, computer and drawing desks, easel and fold out worktables. Additional features include lounge area, meeting area, kitchenette, wet area and toilets.
Work stations are available for long-term lease. They are suitable for painters, jewelers, sculptors, designers, illustrators and other creative people. Prices starting from $55 per week, (inc. GST).
